AMAZING WORK: Watford home care company finalists in the Hertfordshire Care Awards 2021

The team at home care company, Home Instead Watford, have been recognised for their outstanding achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic after being shortlisted at the annual Hertfordshire Care Awards, organised by the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA).

The team are delighted to have been selected as finalists for the ‘Most Innovative Team Collaboration’ award.

They have been recognised for this award due to their collaborations with various local organisations over the past year, including Small Acts of Kindness, Herts Musical Memories, Dementia Action Group and Watford Council.

Home Instead worked closely with the Dementia Action Group in Watford to reach out to those living with dementia in their own homes, and working with their carers to invite them to activities including quizzes and dinner parties.

They also worked alongside charity, Small Acts of Kindness to produce numerous activity books throughout the lockdown periods which were distributed to older people across the community.

Working alongside the charity, Herts Musical Memories, the home care company hosted a nostalgic music event where older people and Home Instead clients could listen to hits from years gone by and enjoy the memories they sparked.

Due to the success of the COVID-secure event which attracted over 40 attendees, the company is organising another one.

Alexis Neighbour, director at Home Instead Watford, said: “I am so proud that we have been selected as finalists.

“It means so much to me personally because it’s all about how we as a team at Home Instead Watford collaborated and worked in partnership with other organisations throughout the pandemic to improve the lives of older people in our community.

“For me our business is all about being community minded and making a difference to everyone on our doorstep that could do with our help.”

Finalists will attend the glittering gala evening which is being held at the spectacular Warner Bros Studios ‘The making of Harry Potter’ on the December 10.

The event, hosted by HCPA’s Head of Operations Wesley Strahan Hughes is an opportunity for the care community to come together for an evening of inspiring stories and remembrance for those sadly lost throughout the pandemic.

Through the annual Hertfordshire Care Awards, HCPA celebrates and rewards the successes of care providers within the county and showcases why care in the private, voluntary and independent sectors in the county is exceptional.
