A nurse from Bushey says she is in “shock” after winning the title of nurse of the year.
Corina Filipescu at Bushey House has been crowned Registered Nurse of the Year for South Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2021 and is through to the national round of judging.
Beating strong opposition from hundreds of nominees, Corina couldn’t hide her joy as she explained what the award means to her.
She said: “This was a complete shock, I wasn’t even aware that I had been nominated.
“I feel honoured to have won this award, the team I work with at Bushey House makes everything easier and without their continued support I would not be the nurse I am today.”
Bushey House general manager, Ranjit Karavadra, said: “This is an amazing achievement and the whole home is supporting Corina.
“We are so proud of her, Corina is the heart of Bushey House, she is there for residents and staff alike, and the support she gives to everyone whilst still ensuring she completes her own job is amazing.
Corina will now join winners from across the UK at an awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
