‘AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT’: Winning award would be ‘dream come true’ for Abbots Langley Indian restaurant

Abbots Tandoori has been recognised with a range of recent awards.

The restaurant, which has been under the same management for 37 years and has had the same head chef for more than 26 years, is a staple in the local community.

Having been named the number one recommended Hertfordshire restaurant for two years running on Tripadvisor, along with winning the Travellers Choice Award 2024, the restaurant has already achieved local and national acclaim.

Now, they have won the Restaurant Guru Award for best restaurant in Abbots Langley and have been shortlisted for the British Curry Guide 2025.

Speaking to ABBOTSnews, restaurant owner Emon Chowdhury shared: “To be on the list itself is an amazing achievement. It is a testament to all the hard work and the dedication of the chef and team. We always strive for the best; we set the highest quality of food and make sure everyone leaves with a happy face.”

Last year, their head chef, Abdul Kalam, won regional chef of the year at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway (ARTA) awards, known as the ‘Oscars of curry’.

Emon added: “This year, we want to get restaurant of the year at the ARTA awards, and although we know there’s a slim chance of winning the British Curry Guide 2025 as there are Michelin Star restaurants on the list, if we could win then it would be a dream come true.

“My message to customers would be: Give us a try and I promise you’ll come back.”
