Officers are hoping that a victim will come forward following an incident at a snooker club in St Albans.

It was reported that at around 5.20am on Sunday, June 16, a man inappropriately touched a woman at the Raging Ball Club in London Road.

It is alleged that an altercation then ensued, with the man assaulting two people who tried to intervene.

One woman was reportedly punched and another was grabbed around the throat.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man from St Albans, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of sexual assault and assault. He has been bailed with conditions while enquiries continue.

Sergeant Lee Hammond, who is investigating, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch by emailing me at lee.hammond@herts.police.uk

“When we arrived at the scene, the victim of the alleged sexual assault had already left the venue. We would like her to come forward so that we can help her and progress our enquiries. If this was you, please do not feel nervous about getting in contact – we take reports of this nature seriously and will do all we can to support you.”

You can also report information online, speak to an operator in the Force Communications Room via the online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting 41/48378/24.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form.
