Thames Valley Police have issued a warning after a driver with tinted windows was pulled over.
The force took to Facebook to explain why they pulled over a blue BMW in Gerrards Cross on Sunday, March 23.
It was being driven without a front number plate and the windows were heavily tinted. The driver was reported for not being in a position to have a full view and will likely receive three points and a fine.
They wrote: “Only 9% of light let through the side windows, almost opaque and very little chance of seeing vulnerable road users like motorcycles, cyclists and pedestrians.”
The tints were removed at roadside and number plate fixings were arranged.
Any vehicle first used on April 1, 1985, must have a front windscreen which lets through at least 75 per cent of light, and front side windows which let through at least 70 per cent of light.
If caught, drivers can receive a prohibition notice stopping them from using the vehicle until they have removed the extra tint, and a penalty notice or court summons.
