A fast-food restaurant in Garston has been granted permission to stay open 24/7.
Plans to extend the opening hours at Tim Hortons, located on Cow Lane by the Dome roundabout, received two objections. This meant that a board of councillors was called in late November to make the final decision.
On Wednesday, December 6, Watford borough councillors approved the drive-through’s application for a late-night licence.
Residents have expressed concerns that the increased operating hours will only worsen the litter problem in the surrounding area, as well as shine bright lights into local homes well after dark.
A resident of the nearby Edward Amey Close said that none of her neighbours support the decision, citing “too much noise” from the restaurant.
Another Garston local said: “I don’t know why we have fast food after fast food [restaurants]. I think the council needs to consider more healthy options for children in the area.”
Watford Borough Council and Tim Hortons have been contacted for comment.
