ACTS OF KINDNESS: Chorleywood Primary school pupils’ baking away for neighbours

Published on: 20th July 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Pupils at a Chorleywood primary school have been busy baking away for their neighbours during the lockdown.

Year 6 students at Christ Church C of E School have been busy cheering up their neighbours by delivering delicious homemade goodies.

Class teacher Vanessa Morley said the school encourages children to be kind.

She said: “The Year 6 children usually do a Citizenship Challenge in the summer term but this year we adapted it for the circumstances we are all facing.

“It is an important aspect of the children’s learning.  We provide an academically rigorous environment but wholeheartedly believe in nurturing the whole child and encouraging them to be kind, thoughtful citizens is part of that.”

Students have been baking cakes and biscuits; packaging them attractively and including thoughtful messages.

Vanessa added: “ Neighbours have felt loved and remembered at a time when many felt overlooked.  We have been so proud of the children’s engagement with this initiative – it has been really touching to see how they have thrown themselves into it.  It is truly living out our core Christian values: love, trust and respect.”
