A man has been charged for brandishing a knife in an A&E ward in Watford.
Ebeneezer Aina, aged 24, of Spur Close, Abbots Langley, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on March 19.
Hertfordshire Constabulary were called just before 11.30pm on Thursday, February 14 to Watford General Hospital to reports of a man with a knife in the accident and emergency reception area.
The A&E department was temporarily evacuated while officers dealt with the incident. No-one was injured.
Twitter user Josh Ellis posted a conversation he had with his girlfriend, who was in the hospital at the time of the incident.
His girlfriend sent him two videos of the commotion after police arrested Ania. The videos also show patients in beds and connected to monitors. Josh’s girlfriend was locked in her ward until police arrived.
In the messages she said: “All I heard was GO GO GO and legged it”.
Detective inspector Jason Finnegan said: “This incident was obviously upsetting and distressing for the staff and patients within A&E at the time of the incident. Thankfully no one was hurt and officers were able to swiftly attend and quickly arrest the man.”
