A high-flying Abbots Langley resident has been snapping photos of the village from up above and sharing his experiences with the community.
Martin Hughes, 38, has been snapping photos from the Cessna 172 and PA28 planes he rents out and the Abbots community on Facebook have been loving them – so much so that Martin’s planning on taking some of them up there with him.
The Tibbs Hill Road resident often comes home from a long day of work as a tube driver and decides his travels aren’t done for the day.
Martin said: “I’m essentially living out my childhood dream – which was to be a train driver and a pilot. I’ve been posting my photos and videos from above Abbots on social media and I’ve honestly been really chuffed with the responses I’ve had.
“I’ve lived in Abbots for pretty much my whole life so I’m very connected and have a lot of supportive friends nearby – so many in fact that I’m planning on taking some of them up with me in the next few weeks.
“My love of flying extends to this whole community – I’d never dream of making money out of taking people up, I’m planning on instead splitting the costs of renting the plane with whoever goes up with me. The real pleasure would be in seeing the people I’m flying with enjoy it as much as I do.”
Martin is also planning on using his flying to raise money for local charities in the near future. His Facebook page is public for anyone who would like to stay informed.
