Successful season for young footballers

An Under 18 team in Croxley Green is celebrating another successful season.

Croxley Green FC Under 18 Black played in the highly competitive Top League in the Watford Friendly League, finishing a very creditable third after competing against teams a year older than them all season. They also managed to reach a cup final and semi-final to cap off a great season.

Coach Colm Finnegan said continuing to play football at U18 level is a difficult decision.

He explained: “The easy thing to do is give it up as the players have had to juggle with starting their A Levels, starting college and starting the world of work which has been an equally difficult challenge. But we have had such a successful season the players want to continue and go again!”

Colm said he wanted to thank all the parents, sponsors and GCFC committee for their continued support with running the team and allowing the boys to study , work and still play a team sport for their social development and mental wellbeing.

Next season will be the current squad’s last season as an Under 18’s and they are currently looking for new players in all positions  including a goalkeeper.

Please contact Colm Finnegan on 07823 362426 or colm.finnegan@ntlworld.com who is an FA Level 2 outfield / goalkeeping Coach.
