The 1874 York Road School has been returned to its former glory, after residents stood in front of a bulldozer and fought for Croxley’s History. Developer Paul O’Reilly has restored the building into four dwellings and still managed to keep the Victorian charm alive. More than 150 local residents came to along to the opening this afternoon. Three Rivers Chairman Les Mead officially opened the building and expressed his happiness at the outcome. Les commented: “There couldn’t have been a better outcome, I am so happy at the finished result and Paul hasn’t let the community down.” “Before the building was vandalised, left untouched and there were rats and bats, it was dreadful. “Paul’s sympathetic and sensitive approach to project and many of the local residents are extremely happy with the outcome of the project.” Following the 2011 incident when Leukaemia Research tried to demolish the building, the residents fought together to save the building.
