Residents are up in arms as a pub near Abbots Langley is due to be converted into a block of flats. The owner of Harry’s, on Old Mill Road, Hunton Bridge, submitted the planning application on May 17. And the locals are unhappy about the proposed development, as they believe it will hinder the village. One resident from The Maltings commented on Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) webiste: “We are already concerned about over development in Hunton bridge conservation area and the existing inadequate parking on old mill lane which restricts flow of traffic and could be worsened by this development in its current format.” Traffic flow and parking is what most the residents in and around the area are concerned about. A resident from Old Mill Road said on the TRDC website: “Apart from the fact I’m losing my favourite pub I feel the Hunton Bridge conservation area doesn’t need any more dwellings. In the last few years there has been major building work done, namely the Wharf Way estate. “This development has greatly impacted on traffic and parking .There are not enough parking spaces on the estate therefore, cars park elsewhere, many of them on Old Mill rd. My main objection for this redevelopment is parking and access.” For more, see the June edition of My Abbots News. What do you think? Email dan@mynewsmag.co.uk
