In an age where recycling and renewable energy is key to a better future, many people are going above and beyond to make sure that future becomes a reality. Therefore is was no wonder Dacorum Borough Council were pleased to announce this year’s Clean, Safe and Green Community Champion Award winners. Alongside community Facebook page Boho Boxmoor, seven-year-old Harry Stevens also came up trumps. The Bovingdon boy is the youngest winner to date in the individual category. The awards, now in their eighth year, recognise members of the community who go above and beyond, taking great pride in their area and helping to keep the borough clean, safe and green. The Mayor of Dacorum presented trophies and certificates at a special awards reception evening held at the Marchmont Arms on Monday, September 19. Harry’s love for recycling and the community has seen him raise awareness with his neighbours, even reminding them of bin collection days. Now he is older, Harry also makes tea for the collection crew, picks up litter on his street and helps an elderly neighbour who struggles to put her bins out. Harry said: “I am happy to receive this award. I love recycling and helping the environment. I enjoy helping people in my community. Everybody should keep recycling.” Hear what else Harry had to say, and more, in the October edition of My Kings News, which will be distributed on October 7.
