Four homes were evacuated last night as a 20ft deep sinkhole appeared in Croxley Green. The hole appeared in the back garden of a home in Dugdales, with police called to the property at 6pm last night. Four properties- a house and three flats- within the cul de sac were evacuated. Residents have been allowed back into their properties this morning. Police estimate the hole to be 5ft by 5ft wide and approximately 15ft to 20ft deep. It is said to be “situated close to the house”. Hertfordshire Constabulary has said that it is no longer a police issue. Another major sinkhole appeared in Hemel Hempstead over the weekend, causing mass evacuations. Police attended a home in Oatridge Gardens after receiving a report of a sink hole appearing in the road at 7.30am on Saturday (February 15). The hole, which is in a residential cul de sac, has mainly affected the road. It is approximately 35ft wide and 20ft deep. As many as 17 properties were evacuated for the safety of residents in the area. Police are working with partner agencies, including Dacorum Borough Council, specialist structural engineers and utilities companies to assess the situation. The road, and surrounding roads, were closed for the safety of residents and whilst agencies work at the scene. Have you spotted a sinkhole? Email adam@mynewsmag.co.uk
