Published on: 15th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Reported crime in Chorleywood between May and June 2019 increased by 37 per cent according to police statistics.

In May, 97 incidents were recorded by Hertfordshire Constabulary and 133 incidents were noted in June.

Only 19 could be recorded with a location in May and 35 in June.

Crimes that saw an increase were anti-social behaviour – three to eight, criminal damage – one to six, vehicle crime – four to six, and violence and sexual offences rose from three to eight.

Hot spots for crime were near the shops on Lower Road – six, Carpenters Wood Drive – four, Chorleywood Cricket field – three and Solesbridge Close – three.

A report into drug crime published by the BBC last week showed a ‘weak increase’ in drug crime in Chorleywood between 2013 and 2018.

That’s from 14 to 22. In nearby Sarratt drug crime has seen a sharp increase from four to 14 in five years.

However, statistics on Police UK show there are only four were recorded in 2019 so far.
