195 HOMES: Radlett residents oppose developers’ proposal for new homes on green belt

Residents are opposing a potential planning application for nearly 200 homes on green belt land in Radlett.

Developer Fairfax Properties recently asked local people for feedback on proposals to build 195 homes on land between Theobald Street and Shenley Road.

The developers say the plans will include affordable housing, infrastructure improvements and land for a new medical facility, along with extending Newberries Primary School’s playing field, across the 28.3-acre site.

One resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the potential application is not good for the village.

She said: “Awful news in terms of the environment, traffic congestion, pollution, deforestation, pressure on our already struggling local medical facilities, and secondary school places.”

The resident previously urged other locals to provide feedback on Fairfax Properties’ consultation and claimed the developers “deliberately” gave locals short notice to comment.
