Olympian Phoebe Gill and former GB marathon athlete Danielle Sanderson were just some of the stars who made their way to Metropolitan Bushey to celebrate 100 years of Watford Harriers Athletics Club.
On Saturday, March 8, the club celebrated their centenary in style. More than 150 people attended the event, including Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and Garston councillor Amanda Grimston.
Phoebe Gill, who at age 17 was the youngest member of the GB athletics squad in the Paris 2024 Olympics, spoke to the audience about juggling A Levels with training and how she overcomes self-doubt.
The audience also watched video messages from supporters, including former Elected Mayor of Watford Baroness Dorothy Thornhill MBE and former athlete Colin Jackson CBE.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, a spokesperson for the club shared: “The evening was a huge success, and further celebrations are planned over the year.”
