A talented Northwood schoolgirl has earned a prestigious music scholarship.
Xaviella, who is in Year 9 at Northwood College for Girls, earned the highly competitive Eileen Rowe Musical Trust (ERMT) scholarship which is aimed to help skilled pianists.
The ERMT has been set up in memory of one of the UK’s finest piano teachers, Eileen Rowe.
Previous winners of the scholarship have gone on to study music at the Royal College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music, and the University of Cambridge.
Delighted at her success, Xaviella said: “My piano teacher encouraged me to apply for this scholarship, and I was subsequently shortlisted.
“I am very grateful that I have won, and that I was given the opportunity to apply for it. I hope that through the scholarship I am able to further develop my piano-playing skills and repertoire.”
Director of music at Northwood College, Richard McElwaine, said: “We are so proud of Xaviella for winning this prestigious Scholarship.
“She has taken part in many concerts and productions at Northwood College over the years and it has been a great pleasure to witness her improve to such a phenomenal level. We all look forward to seeing where her talent and hard work will take her next.”
