A member of Harperbury Bowls Club in Radlett has won the Para Singles at the 2025 Bowls England National Finals.
Aaron Langley, 29, from Shenley, is a well-known member of the club who lives with autism.
Aaron began his bowls journey at just eight years old, playing at West Finchley Bowling Club with his dad. He hasn’t stopped playing since.
During the lead-up to the Aviva National Finals in Leamington Spa, Aaron won two games out of three in the qualifiers, placing him in the last 16.
He said: “I actually thought when I left that I hadn’t qualified as I had to rush off to work.
“But when I finished work and looked at my emails, I got one from Bowls England saying that I had qualified as the second highest runner-up across all four national groups.”
The winning streak did not end there as Aaron won his last 16 match, as well as his quarter-final match, placing him in the semi-final.
The semi-final took place on Monday, August 18, where Aaron faced a partially sighted player who played using a string down the middle of the rink.
Aaron won the game 21-12 and moved on to the finals, which took place on Tuesday, August 19. He faced last year’s winner, Kieran Rollings from Kettering Lodge in Northamptonshire.
Aaron went on to perform what he calls his “miracle shot”, winning his match 21-20.
He told RADLETTnews: “Winning the final was happiness and amazement as it was a long journey to the final.
“I qualified as second highest national runner-up to qualify at Leamington, then play the last 16, quarter-finals, semi-final and final.”
Bowls England also congratulated Aaron, praising him for his “incredible” playing.
