WELL RECEIVED: Cadets Gift Collection for soldiers goes to Holywell Ward Garston

Published on: 6th June 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Holywell Ward Garston is one of the wards that benefitted from care packages received by Beds and Herts Three Company’s cadets and adults.

Last year Three Company collected ‘Items for care’ packages which they sent to the Irish guards, these arrived in time to be opened last Christmas and were very well received, with the guards replying with letters and assorted gifts for cadets.

Three company began collecting again this year to send follow up packages to the troops, but due to the guards being recalled back to the UK they were never sent.

Because of the current situation, Three Company decided to pass the items onto local hospitals, St Peter’s Ward Hemel Hempstead and Midway Ward also received the donations.

The matron took time to pass on her thanks to all the cadets that donated saying it is the perfect gift right now as many patients don’t have anyone who can bring them toiletries at the moment.

Detachment commander for Hemel Hempstead, Rob Tillotson said: “ We collected items for the Irish guards but due to COVID-19 the guards were recalled. Our commander officer Major Prior works for the NHS so we decided the best use of these packages would be for them to be donated to the wards for people to use.

“We received an email from the CEO of the NHS Trust thanking us for the donations which was very nice.”
