A Cadet from Tring has demonstrated “amazing selflessness” by climbing Pen y Fan in Wales with an Army veteran.
Poppy Davis, from Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force’s Tring Detachment 3 Company, has been involved in the Curtis Palmer Program Home Charity.
Last month, Poppy and charity members helped Lace Bombardier (Retd) Ben Parkinson MBE, reach the Pen Y Fan summit in his specially adapted wheelchair. Ben is the most injured serviceman to survive Operation Herrick in Afghanistan. He is a double lower limb amputee and suffered more than 40 injuries during a landmine explosion in 2006.
Poppy set up a GoFundMe page which raised £355 for the Curtis Palmer Program, a charity which supports serving and retired police officers and staff. The challenge also raised a further £450 for the Trussell Trust and collected 535 long-life food items to be distributed to local food banks.
Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force posted on social media: “Well done to Cadet Davis and her family for such hard, truly inspiring work!”
