Watford let top half finish slip against West Ham

Watford FC let their discipline slip against West Ham as they thrash The Hornets 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Sunday (May 12).

The Golden Boys finish the campaign in 11th but they have the FA Cup final to look forward to next Saturday (May 18) against Premier League Champions Manchester City.

Mark Noble scored the first with a magnificent effort from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner, leaving Ben Foster with no chance. Then Manuel Lanzini headed in the second for The Hammers from a rebound in the six-yard box.

The Hornets started the second half well when Gerard Deulofeu was one-on-one with the keeper within a minute, taking an early shot which finds the back of the net to make it 2-1.

All of Watford’s hard work was quickly undone when Jose Holebas receives a red card for bringing down Michail Antonio when he was through on goal. Under new rules Holebas will miss the FA Cup final.

Marko Arnautovic forced a Ben Foster save in the 71st minute but was fortunate enough to get the rebound to make it 3-1.

Then just seven minutes later referee Chris Kavanagh awards a penalty to West Ham where Mark Noble steps up to fire it into the bottom left corner.

Despite Watford’s four game winless run in the league, the players will now be focusing on becoming FA Cup winners against Manchester City at Wembley.

The match will kick off at 5pm.
