You’ve probably seen him serving ice cream around Watford for what seems like forever, but now it’s official, Paul Salamone, owner of Tonino & Sons Ice Cream has been recognised by Guinness World Records as having the ‘Longest Career as an Ice Cream Man’ in the world. CBBC filmed Paul serving ice cream as part of their Officially Amazing Extra show. The show will air on Saturday, February 15 at 7.45am. Paul has been making and serving high quality ice cream to generations of families in and around Hertfordshire since 1965 and to celebrate this achievement, the cast and crew of Officially Amazing Extra came to Watford to film him in action and to talk about his career. Tonino & Son owner Paul was presented with a Guinness World Record Certificate to commemorate nearly 50 years of ice cream service. Paul said: “I had a great time and was really pleased that his hard work had paid off.” He was also “thankful to all the customers he had served over the years”, but when asked how many ice creams he thought he had served over time, he was stumped.
