A Watford hairdresser has scooped an award for her “outstanding” charity work. Sarah Bishop, known as Tia, lives in the town and works at Clipso hair salon on Queens Road. She scooped a prize at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Luncheon and Awards ceremony held at The Dorchester Hostel last month. She received the honour, which was presented by television hairdresser Errol Douglas, for her work with charity Hope for Children. Tia, a Master Hair Consultant, sacrificed things she loves last year in aid of the children’s charity. Tia set up Challenge 30 to complete 30 crazy challenges at the age of 30. Tia began the challenges in May 2012 and raised £4,585.34 by May 2013. She is still collecting outstanding money, which will push her past her £5,000 goal. Hope for Children (HOPE) is a UK based charity which works towards a world where children’s rights are realised and they can reach their full potential. They actively identify disadvantaged children and communities by working with local partners. The Fellowship for British Hairdressing Luncheon and Awards is one of the most popular events in the hairdressing industry calendar and commenced with a champagne reception before guests enjoyed a Christmas lunch and awards ceremony. Of her award, Tia said: “I can’t believe I won and I am extremely proud to be given the award for the work I undertook for the Hope for Children, which is an amazing charity. “The things I completed and sacrificed for one year at the age of 30 were very challenging but the money I raised was worth it and to be recognised with an award is a great feeling.”
