Heineken, which owns Kiss Kiss in Elstree, formerly known as The Plough, has announced plans to reopen the site.
In early May, the organisation announced that subject to the completion of legal documents, building work on the site will begin later this year. This will lay the groundwork for its reopening, nine years after the pub closed its doors.
This comes as part of Heineken UK’s £40million investment package, which they hope will create 1,000 new jobs across the country.
Lawson Mountstevens, managing director of Star Pubs, said: “Heineken sees firsthand the value in great British pubs and their ongoing popularity. It recognises that Brits love their locals and that well-invested pubs trade better.
“This £40million inward investment from a Dutch business into UK pubs is a resounding vote of confidence in the future of the sector.”
A total of £3.9million is earmarked for pubs in London and the Home Counties with licensees expected to invest £650,000 on top, demonstrating confidence in the future of the pub market and resulting in an estimated 83 new jobs.
