An Amersham resident and dedicated volunteer is embarking on a new fundraising mission.
Kieran Guyatt has been focused on providing vital aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February. Kieran has already made two trips to Poland alongside a team of volunteers, firstly providing clothes, food and medical supplies to ship across the border, and then again, to provide three working ambulances.
Now, Kieran has organised his own fundraiser to help supply the Ukrainian soldiers with a list of resources they desperately need.
Top of the list is a new van. Kieran is aware of a military unit that is currently working with a single van that is more than 30 years old. The vehicle is said to be unreliable and unfit to assist the battalion in their hazardous duties.
Kieran said: “There have been numerous instances where the battalion needed to leave their assignment location immediately because of a counterattack by the aggressor’s side, but they were unable to do so because of their old junky vehicle.
“The military have asked the Ukrainian government for a more dependable vehicle numerous times, but they have not received a response. Crowdfunding from people like us is their only chance.”
Other than the van, Kieran also hopes to use the money raised to fund 3D printers. 3D printers are used by designers to swiftly produce product models and prototypes and produce finished goods, such as furniture, tools, tripods, wax castings, shoe designs and more.
Most importantly of all, these devices would be utilised by the Ukrainian soldiers to make prosthetics for wounded soldiers.
Kieran said: “So many soldiers that have lost limbs. These will hopefully be able to replace them.”
Kieran has set a fundraising goal of £5,000. If you would like to support the cause, visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kieran-guyatt
