Village has the second cheapest commute into capital

Chorleywood has been found to have the second cheapest annual commute into London according to a survey carried out by Homes and Property.

The survey was carried out to identify property hotspots less than 40 minutes from central London with annual commuting costing under £3,000.

Chorleywood, which is 31 minutes away from central London, has an annual season ticket cost of £2,792 and an average property price costing £779,592.

The annual price is in addition to the 3.1 per cent increase in train fares being introduced at the start of the year.

A Facebook user has questioned the survey and has said that property prices in the area are “through the roof.”

She said: “But can you afford to live here? Property prices are through the roof.”

One villager has said that the commuter costs for Chorleywood are cheap because the costs are shared between two railway services.

She said: “It is a cheap commute due to sharing costs of the railway between TfL and ChilternRail railways.”
