A collaboration between a Rickmansworth farm and a Chorleywood charity has been hailed a huge success.

On Wednesday, December 11, Woodoaks Farm announced the conclusion of its six-week pilot programme with Mission EmployAble, aiming to give opportunities to those with a learning disability.

Dan, Oscar, Danny, Eddie, Peter, Paul and Jake mastered tool safety, communication skills, working within a team, and strength building. The group of interns helped pack away an old marquee, recover mud-covered baubles, and reposition the fallen Christmas tree in time for The Spirit of Christmas event on Sunday, December 15. The project was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Speaking to Chorleywood news, Mission EmployAble training manager Cass Langan said: “We were very impressed with the positive impact and important learning experiences Woodoaks Farm has provided our interns.

“They have taken so much from their time there, and have been inspired to consider employment in farm maintenance.”
