Plans to convert one of Watford’s most historic buildings into a children’s nursery have been given the green light.
The Grade II listed Frogmore House will be converted with changes to the inside and outside of the 300-year-old building.
Watford Borough Council (WBC) approved the proposal by Canopy Children’s Nursery on Thursday, July 17.
WBC deemed that the use of the site is “considered appropriate” in bringing a disused building back into use for the community.
Canopy Nurseries said: “Following an exciting refurbishment program, the nursery combines the charms of a beautifully preserved heritage building with thoughtfully designed learning spaces.
“As a property with significant historical value, we are dedicated to preserving its unique character and period features, ensuring its charm and legacy are enjoyed for generations to come.”
Canopy currently has sites in Wembley, St Albans, Shrewsbury and Potters Bar. The nursery is expected to open in Watford this summer.
