A talented local artist will be showcasing her collection of mixed media, collages, paintings and 3D work in Northwood this month.
Priya Suneel, a Northwood resident and member of the Pinner Sketch Club, was invited to show her collection at the Etz Chayim Gallery in Northwood in a solo exhibition.
Known for her dramatic imagery, her bold, confident and vibrant use of colour and her distinctive incorporation of fabric and found objects, a trained artist, Priya graduated in 1985 with a degree in fine arts and has in her career shown in various group and solo exhibitions in the UK as well as in Nigeria, India and Nepal.
Current committee member Pinner Sketch Club, Priya has also been part of the Society of Nigerian Artists, Hampstead Artists’ Council, The Brent Artists’ Resource and Wembley Art Society.
Priya will be showing off her unique work from Monday, February 18 until Sunday, March 31, with an open afternoon preview on Sunday, February 24 from 2pm-6pm.
Anisha Palat, art historian and educator, is a fan of Priya’s.
She said: “Priya Suneel’s ability to take found objects and turn them into a recognisable form shows her skill as an artist, aesthetic sensibility and unique perspective.
“Her art also stands out for its compositions with paper, textile and mixed media. Her deep understanding of colour and its pairings comes through in these works; she is able to take different pieces of textile from varied sources and place them side by side in what comes together as an assembled amalgamation.”
Anyone is welcome to visit the exhibition. The Etz Chayim Gallery is located at 18-24 Oaklands Gate, Northwood, HA6 3AA.
