TWO SENTENCED FOLLOWING STABBING IN WATFORD

Two men have been sentenced in connection with a stabbing that took place in St Albans Road, Watford last summer. Mohammed Khan, aged 18 of St George’s Road, Watford and a 16-year-old boy, also from Watford were sentenced at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, May 23 for their part in a stabbing which took place in St Albans Road during the early hours of July 18, 2013, following an altercation involving two groups of youths. The victim, who was aged 17 at the time of the assault, received a life threatening injury to his chest as a result of the attack. He has since made a full recovery. Khan pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment for the stabbing and six months for possession of the knife to run concurrently. The 16-year-old boy was sentenced to six years imprisonment. Detective Sergeant Ian Siggery, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “I am pleased that we have seen a positive result. A team of detectives from the Local Crime Unit worked tirelessly with the local community to gather the necessary evidence to bring about these charges ensure the offenders faced justice. “I would thank them for their support with the investigation. I hope these sentences send out a clear message that knife crime will not be tolerated in Hertfordshire.”
