Two men have been jailed in connection with a kidnap in Watford. The incident occurred in December 2023, when a man was forcibly taken to a shed, bound, and repeatedly beaten over the course of several hours before he managed to escape.
The incident was not reported to police but later came to light during an investigation into an unrelated matter.
Detectives also discovered a video showing another man being stunned multiple times with a Taser in October 2024. Following enquiries, two men known to the victims were arrested, and charges were secured.
During a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on Wednesday, March 11, Kevin Burke, 53, previously of Eastlea Avenue, Watford, was sentenced to a total of eight years and three months imprisonment for the kidnap, in addition to a second charge of administering a poison/noxious substance to endanger life and a breach of a suspended sentence for an unrelated conviction.
Jamie Gahagan, 38, previously of Ganders Ash, Watford, pleaded guilty to kidnap and was jailed for six years and three months.
Restraining orders were also granted by the courts, preventing contact with the two victims until further notice, as well as two other men for a period of five years.
