A member of staff from Rickmansworth School helped his team to win gold at the World Masters Hockey European Cup 2025.
Mr Cooper, the school’s director of learning, played a pivotal role in England’s Over 40s Masters Hockey Team at the tournament in Valencia, Spain, from June 20 to 29.
England’s squad delivered an outstanding performance throughout, securing wins against Spain, Scotland, France and Ireland, while scoring an impressive 52 goals across the tournament. The campaign culminated in a 7-0 victory over Ireland in the final, securing the European title.
Mr Cooper, who has previously won a World Cup bronze medal, expressed his pride in representing his country and gratitude to the school community.
He said: “Winning was an absolutely amazing experience. To represent England once again on such a prestigious stage was truly unbelievable. After all the hard work and dedication, finally winning gold feels incredible; a moment I’ll cherish forever.”
He also gave thanks to Rickmansworth School, recognising the support he has received.
He added: “I’m very grateful to work in a school that actively supports personal and professional development. The backing from colleagues and students alike has been incredibly motivating.”
Headteacher Mr Fletcher said: “We are incredibly proud of Mr Cooper’s international success. His achievement reflects the values we uphold across the school and sets a powerful example for our students.”
