Travellers set up camp opposite McDonalds in Apsley last month.
Around ten caravans pitched up on the land on May 9 opposite the London Road Retail Park. KingsNews understands that police were quickly notified and later told the group they had to leave by the following day.
Their arrival provoked a heated discussion on Facebook group Hemel Hempstead Community and Conversation with some members saying they just needed to be left alone while others said that they needed to be treated with caution.
Travellers had been reported in Watford, Gadebridge and Boxmoor earlier this year.
