After hearing the news, St Albans City FC shared a post of support to Lee’s family on their Facebook page.

The post read: “The Club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player Lee Bozier.

“Lee made over 50 appearances for the Saints as a goalkeeper having progressed through the City Youth ranks.

“Our thoughts are with Lee’s family and friends.”

Several supporters left tributes on the Facebook post to pay their respects to Lee.

One user wrote: “Really sad news, top lad when we was growing up. Thoughts are with Lee’s family at this sad time. RIP Mate.”

Sunday league team AFC London Road where Lee was formally a youth coach also shared a tribute on their Facebook page.

The post read: “Lee Bozier was one of our many former fantastic London Road youth coaches, he sadly passed away this week.

“We would like to thank him for everything he did for our club, had a huge impact on some many of our lives, and to this day made many young lads fantastic footballers, who we still have the pleasure of playing against today regularly with our close friends over at Phoenix FC.”
