TRAFFIC CONTROL: Bus-gate cameras to come into force in Watford High Street

Published on: 28th April 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A new programme has launched on Watford High Street to decrease traffic and improve safety.

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed and will be operational from April 4 to enforce the new bus gate restrictions.

Buses, taxis, and pedal bikes may access the High Street at any time from King Street, and loading trucks can enter to utilise designated bays during loading hours. All other types of traffic are prohibited. Non-permitted cars driving through the bus gate will be fined.

The programme will be trialled for up to 18 months, also aims to, improve air quality, encourage people to walk, and cycle locally.

Residents, businesses, and handicapped drivers will be invited to offer input for the first six months of the experiment. This will allow for any required modifications and improvements to the scheme.
