Berkhamsted put six past Wantage Town at home this afternoon (January 25) to go top of the league with Lewis Toomey grabbing a hat-trick.
The Comrades got off to a strong start when they were awarded a penalty after just two minutes, which Lewis Toomey calmly slotted home. 1-0
Toomey got his and Berko’s second of the game on the 17th minute after brilliant work from Josh Chamberlain, his pass played through the striker and he finished well. 2-0
The away side came into the game more before the first half ended, with Sydney Ibie hitting both the post and the crossbar.
In the 45th minute, Ryan Kinnane scored Berko’s third, allowing them to cruise into the half-time break with the game all but wrapped up. 3-0
If there was any doubt, there wouldn’t be just seven minutes after the second half started when an own goal this time allowed Berko to celebrate their 4th goal of the day. 4-0
Toomey got his hat-trick on the 68th minute when he expertly finished from close range, extending his lead as the league’s top goal scorer. 5-0
Jonathan Lacey isn’t too far behind Toomey in that sense and he finally got his goal on the 79th minute, piling even more misery onto the visitors. 6-0
Berkamsted took the well-deserved three points from the match and remain top of the BetVictor Southern Central League with 51 points.
The Comrades are next in action on Saturday, February 1 against Coleshill Town.
