A rock ‘n’ roll band from Rickmansworth are gearing up to take to the road after releasing their debut EP earlier this year.
Drummer Alex Walker and guitarist James Chapman met while working at a local school. James, a special needs teacher, soon realised that he and music instructor Alex would make a great team beyond the school gates.
After many years of jamming together, the pair founded their band, The Blue Moon, and decided to take their music to the next level.
Having improvised with various sounds during live gigs in Watford and beyond, the band have worked up their favourite four tracks and now plan to take them on tour.
Alex said: “We’d perform our tunes at gigs and see which ones got people up and dancing. Those are the songs we decided to publish – the aim here is to get people up on their feet and bouncing as much as possible.
“The whole point of the band is to put on a gig that has more than just our mums in the audience. It’s kind of the opposite of world domination – if we can just get two people who don’t know us to hear our music, it’s a success.”
For Alex, the next step is raising the band’s profile within his local community.
He added: “It’s really hard to get people to hear your work. Sure, you can pay a DJ to get your track on a playlist, but what’s the point of getting 15,000 bots to listen to your music?”
