A former Hornets goalkeeper has revealed how offering Watford FC tickets to a UFC star led to a fine of £150,000.
During an appearance on The Fozcast podcast in August, Ben Foster revealed that in 2021, he had offered tickets to a Watford v Liverpool game at Vicarage Road to none other than UFC legend Paddy Pimblett, aka Paddy the Baddy.
Paddy was kicked out of the ground after passionately celebrating both of Liverpool’s first-half goals, despite standing in the home end.
Ben explained that a steward approached Paddy and said: “We are going to have to ask you to leave; you’ll get murdered if you stay in here doing that!”
Paddy headed straight to social media after exiting the stadium, where he posted on his Instagram: “Thanks Fozzy lad for the tickets, I love you, but Watford you’re a c**p club.”
Liverpool went on to win the game 5-0, while Watford were relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Ben, who had been playing in the match, explained: “As soon as the match finishes, we have been pumped 5-0. I then look at my phone and there are a thousand messages. I’m like ‘oh no’.
“Anyway, I got a week’s fine for that. I got done a week’s wages. Lovely. £150k you owe me, Paddy!”
