A nine-year-old girl has walked a marathon to raise more than £1,000 for a Rickmansworth wildlife hospital.
Ella Bramley-Harker decided to raise money for Pumpkin’s Wildlife Hospital after finding an injured owlet at her local park in Stoke Poges. The nearest vet was more than an hour away, so when Ella found out that Pumpkin’s was raising funds for its renovation in Rickmansworth, she was excited that there was going to be a wildlife sanctuary much nearer to her home.
Ella’s mum Sarah suggested that her daughter walk the marathon over two days, but in the end Ella decided to do it in one go.
Sarah said: “She actually did a half-marathon last year to raise money for the street dogs charity Paws.
“Ella has autism and ADHD, so challenges like this are a good outlet for all her energy!”
Ella said: “It was hard and wet. I got through two pairs of trainers!”
Ella has raised more than £1,250 for the hospital. To donate, please visit her JustGiving page.
