Amersham resident Imogen Atkinson, 17, raised more than £1,000 for a local charity through her oboe recital on Sunday, November 5.
Imogen decided to put on a charity concert in order to support Street Kids Direct, a locally funded initiative which sponsors children in Guatemala, as well as to practice her portfolio ahead of conservatoire auditions.
The concert, held at St Mary the Virgin in Old Amersham, was attended by more than 70 friends and family members.
Although Imogen stated that there were “a few bits” of her performances that she “wasn’t happy with”, the audience was blown away by her musical prowess – so much so that Imogen collected around £600 in cash donations on the night of her performance.
Imogen is glad to report that she has now been offered places at three different music schools, including her first-choice destination the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
