Talented young athletes who attend Total TKD Chorleywood triumphed in a recent national competition, returning home with a haul of eight medals.
Among the many successes at the ITF English Championships over the weekend of November 1 and 2 was Hemel Hempstead student Leon Habachi, who won the gold in sparring and bronze in patterns and is now the English champion.
Also competing were Louis Zaw (pictured left), who won silver in patterns and silver in sparring; Denis Muresan from Amersham who won silver in sparring and bronze in special technique; Spencer Golden who won bronze in special technique; and Jessica Morrison who won bronze in patterns.
An accomplished black belt, Louis is now training to be in the England squad and is set to compete in the World Championships next year.
Speaking to Chorleywood News, Chanelle, who runs Total TKD Chorleywood, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our amazing students from Total TKD Chorleywood who took part in the English Championships! They showed incredible effort, respect and team spirit and it’s fantastic to see their hard work rewarded with some brilliant results and medals.
“A huge well done as well to our 11-year-old student Louis Zaw, who achieved his black belt, an amazing milestone at such a young age! Everyone represented our club and community beautifully, I’m so proud of you all.”
Chanelle was previously nominated for the Sporting Achiever Award at My Local Hero 2024. She specialises in teaching Taekwon-do to children, helping to give young students the perfect introduction to martial arts.
Earlier this year, 19 of her students collected silverware at a national competition.
