A new concert series at The Liberal Synagogue Elstree (TLSE) became a cultural highlight for music lovers in Elstree and Radlett, as the most recent event took place on Sunday, November 16.
Arts at Elstree launched in May this year, presenting three concerts designed to support early-career musicians and provide them with opportunities to perform in an intimate setting.
The initiative was founded by cellist Ellen Baumring-Gledhill, who established the programme with the backing of Rabbi Gershon Silins and the wider TLSE community.
Speaking to RADLETTnews, Ellen said: “Residents and visitors can look forward to great music from highly accomplished up-and-coming young artists on their doorstep to develop and expand the concert series to make Radlett and Elstree an artistic hub.”
Violinist Leora Cohen and pianist Matthew Schellhorn performed on Sunday, November 16, and received many positive responses from members of the audience.
The programme has been designed to highlight TLSE’s grand piano, donated by Stella Brooks in memory of her late husband.
Next year, the 2026 season will open with London Central Brass in January, with plans to expand the series to include a wider range of instrumentalists and singers.
A spokesperson for RADLETTnews said: “The audience will also be able to enjoy an exhibition of crafts from the talented members of the community, which is running concurrently with the concert.”
