A local swimming pool is the third best swimming scheme in the country, according to the Amateur Swim Association (ASA). Hatch End Swimming Pool, which is operated by Everyone Active and Harrow Council, took a podium finish late last year at a special ceremony in The Great Hall at Birmingham University. All pool facilities and swimming schemes across the country were considered for the National Swim Scheme of the Year. The successful scheme has seen a huge increase in users of the centre with 800 people now learning to swim per week. John Sewell, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are incredibly pleased with this outstanding achievement which recognises and reflects the continuous effort of the team for improving swim development in the local community. “We will continue to maintain a special atmosphere which makes Hatch End Swimming Pool unique, and look forward to pushing for more achievements on the national stage.” For more local stories about your community, read the January edition of Pinner&HatchEndNews which is distributed on January 20.
