A swim team made up of women from three generations have managed to raise over £1,000 by swimming 5km across the whole of March.
Northwood College for Girls schoolgirl Aanya Patel inspired her mum Darshika and her grandmother Jyotsna (who’s recently had a hip operation) to do the challenge, fundraising for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
This team of extraordinary women had already done a similar challenge last year, managing to climb the equivalent of Mount Kilimanjaro in the summer, with Jyotsna completing the task on crutches whilst Aanya learnt to ride her bike.
With the swimming challenge, the women did a part of the swim daily, eventually totalling an equivalent of having done the 5k, equivalent to 200 lengths of a regular swimming pool.
They also managed to raise over two times the amount of money they expected. Originally setting a £500 target, they’ve managed to get a current total of £1,126 for their chosen charity.
