Two men have been arrested in connection with multiple burglary offences in Bushey and St Albans.

The arrests occurred on Tuesday, March 17, after a car the men were travelling in through Potters Bar was identified as potentially linked to a burglary.

When the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Neighbourhood Policing Team attempted to stop the vehicle, they made off in the direction of Bignalls Corner, where RPU officers used tactical contact to neutralise the vehicle and apprehend the suspects.

The two occupants were detained and upon searching the car, officers discovered class B drugs (cannabis) and a small amount of class A drugs (cocaine).

Darren Arnold, 30, of Westcroft Close, Northwest London, was subsequently charged with burglary and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A 19-year-old man from Northwest London, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was released on bail whilst the investigation continues.

Crime and Intelligence Detective Inspector, Stuart Bence, said: “Burglary is one of our main priorities and can have a devastating effect on victims. We are constantly monitoring the county’s roads to detect criminals coming into Hertfordshire from other areas to commit burglary and other crimes, and we will relentlessly pursue them until they are brought to justice.”
