Former Stagecoach Chorleywood member and Rickmansworth resident Maggie Livermore has shared the screen with Hollywood giants, despite being just 10 years old.
If you’ve seen Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, you’ll likely recognise Maggie as playing loud, confident and bubbly Esmerelda.
Maggie told CHORLEYWOODnews: “When I got the call from my agent, it was so surprising! It felt amazing and so cool!
“I was nervous at the beginning, but after day one I was buzzing. Everyone was so kind and supportive; it was a lovely experience.”
Maggie explained that the other members of the cast were very supportive, with leading lady Renée Zellweger often offering younger cast members tips when they were struggling.
Maggie recalled filming the barn scenes, which meant that the actors had to take breaks to avoid the protected bat species that lived on the site.
Maggie also shared that she and fellow actor Casper – who plays Billy Darcey – have remained good friends.
When asked if she had any funny experiences on set, Maggie said: “In the barn scene, we didn’t realise that Mr Walliker [Chiwetel Ejiofor] would take his shirt off because we hadn’t read that far in the script yet.
“So, when he ripped his shirt off, we all covered our eyes. We were so shocked as we didn’t realise it was going to happen!”
Along with the rest of the cast, Maggie watched the first screening of the film at the ODEON in Leicester Square. She said that it was “mind-blowing to see myself up there with Hollywood actors”, adding that she “felt really accomplished”.
Maggie’s parents, Brooks and Jess Livermore, are also actors and said they “couldn’t be prouder” of their daughter.
Jess said: “The first time I watched the film, I couldn’t concentrate! We are so proud, and we can’t believe how lucky she is to be a part of this film.”
The young star has also appeared in Till The Stars Come Down at the National Theatre which is moving to the West End this summer, and says she is working on several secret projects to be revealed later this year.
