Boots on and friends by their side, the Chess Valley Under 10s rugby team recently played against four teams in a tournament.
Taking to the Saracen’s ground on Saturday, May 10, the team took on players from Upminster RFC, Canvey Island, Heath Mount School, and Medway RFC, as part of the Saracen’s Festival.
Though there is no such thing as winning or losing in U10s rugby, the team played really well and were pleased with how it went.
In the afternoon, the team got to watch the rugby match between Saracen’s Men and Newcastle Falcons, where the Saracens won 75-28.
Speaking to Croxley News, manager of the team Ruth Precey said: “The team brings players together from all the local schools and there is a great sense of friendship through the sports.
“Most of the boys have been playing together for three or four years and rugby has gone from being a Sunday activity to a place of strong friendships.”
The team are always on the look out for new members and train Sunday and Tuesday evenings from September to May.
