Frithwood Primary School pupils brought the spirit of Christmas to their classrooms last month as they hosted a Book Fair Competition.
Designed around the Scholastic Book Fair, which Frithwood hosts twice a year, the competition involved pupils creating book-themed art.
Each entry was displayed around the school to promote the Book Fair and families had the opportunity to purchase books, with funds going towards purchasing new texts for classrooms and the library.
Leon, Monty, Matilda and Jaison were announced as the winners, and they all received book vouchers to use at the fair.
Speaking to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, the school’s reading leader Ms Brennan said: “Promoting reading for pleasure is incredibly important to us as a school, and we want all our children to develop a love of reading.”
The school has planned a Book Exchange for World Book Day celebrations in the spring. They will also host the Booknic, where children bring their favourite books and a snack, buddy with other pupils from different classes and enjoy a good book together.
Ms Brennan added: “The Booknic is always hugely popular, even with our more reluctant readers, and it is a wonderful way to build connections and keep the joy of reading alive.”
