STILL TIME: Hertsmere residents encouraged to comment on Local Plan

Published on: 15th November 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Draft Local Plan for Hertsmere was published in September 2021, setting out plans for the growth of the borough over the next 15 years and beyond.

The document outlines how Hertsmere will deliver 760 new homes every year in the borough and has been met with mixed reactions so far, with more than a thousand comments and views.

The suggested Housing and Employment sites in Bushey include Land south-east of Hart’s Farm Stables, Land north of Farm Way, The Former Bushey Golf and Country Club, Land on the north side of Little Bushey Lane near Hartspring Lane, Hartsbourne Country Club, Hart’s Farm, Little Bushey Lane and Land south of Elstree Road and more.

Hertsmere Borough Council has now given a commitment that the final plan will reflect any formal changes to government policy when announced.

Portfolio Holder for Planning, Councillor Dr Harvey Cohen, said: “We’re delighted with the number of responses we’ve received so far and we want to keep them coming.

“There have been some suggestions that there should be a halt or pausing of the process due to possible government changes to housing number requirements. Once we are formally notified by the government on these requirements they will be reflected in our final Local Plan appropriately.”

Members of the public have until Monday 6 December to submit feedback at  www.hertsmerelocalplan.com or email local.plan@hertsmere.gov.uk
